Set up your cash drawer to work seamlessly with your receipt printer. Once your printer is properly configured, you can connect the cash drawer, it will automatically open whenever a sale is completed and a receipt is printed.
Connect the Cash Drawer
Start by physically connecting the cash drawer to your printer. To setup the Cash Drawer:
Plug the RJ12 connector cable (it looks similar to a telephone line) from the cash drawer into the receipt printer’s cash drawer port.
Make sure both the printer and cash drawer are securely connected and powered on.
Once connected, the drawer will be ready to receive open commands from the printer during transactions.
Access CUPS for Mac Users
Use the CUPS interface to manage printer and cash drawer settings on your Mac.
Open your web browser and go to: http://localhost:631/printers/.
If you see a message saying “Web Interface is Disabled”.
Copy the command shown in the message.
Open Terminal using Spotlight Search.
Paste the command into Terminal and press Enter.
Once you are in CUPS, Select your printer model from the list below:
Click on the Printer.
From the Administration action Dropdown list select Set Default Options.
Open the Administration dropdown menu and choose Set Default Options.
In the General settings, set the default printing preferences for your receipt printer.
Under the General section, choose your preferred paper size. For example, 72mm x Receipt.Cash Drawer Control Settings.
Enable and customize the cash drawer function.
